Goto AY Race Report 219th Nov 2018: Despite the dire looking weather predictions on the first two days of racing, the wind popped up before the start on both occasions and continued throughout the afternoon, for the yachts to make good progress, up the coast. It didn’t take long for the order to establish itself, with Ray Roberts TP52 Team Hollywood, Sarab Singh’s Welbourn 52 Windsikher II and Geoff Hill’s Smith 72 Antipodes in the leading group, fighting over line honours. Then the two Farr 40’s and the Malaysian Navy grouping, around 10nm behind. Followed by the leading IRC 3 yachts, another 10nm adrift, with HH The Raja Muda of Selangor’s Fujin dueling with John Kara’s Insanity for line honours, mixed in with the Cruising and Classic class handicap contenders. Down the back the small yachts and heavy displacement classic’s like Rona and Eveline. Then the bewitching hour arrived around 1800 to 1900hrs, when scattered storms descended and the breeze pummeled the fleet, then switched off and finally the land breeze arrived to bring the fleet home.
